Page 7 is a review of mean absolute deviation.
Step 1 Find the mean, Add all the values and divide by the the number of values.
Step 2 Subtract the answer you got in step 1 from all the original values. Ignore negative signs or take the absolute value.
Step 3 Find the mean of the new list.
Example 1,2,3,4
(1 + 2 +3 +4) /4 = 2.5
| 1-2.5 | = 1.5
| 2-2.5| = 0.5
| 3 -2.5 | = 0.5
| 4 - 2.5| = 1.5
( 1.5 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 1.5) /4 = 1 So the MAD is 1.
